Is it worth uploading videos to YouTube? It turns out that in addition to the great publicity that those who use the technology that has taken over computer screens in recent years receive, it is also possible to earn quite a bit of money from it.

The Calcalist website reported that a young Brit named Dan Middleton, 26, from Aldershot, is the top earner on the popular video site.

Middleton began posting videos of himself playing Minecraft and Pokemon in 2012. The videos were aimed at children under 10, and he was working at Tesco at the time. Middleton has amassed more than 16 million subscribers, and his videos have received more than 10 billion views. His popularity has skyrocketed in the past year, after not even making the top 10 on YouTube last year.

He also recently embarked on a concert tour, with his appearance at the Sydney Opera House becoming the second-fastest-selling show in the venue's history.

However, in November, he said in an interview that he was not ready for the fame that comes with being the star of the site.

So how much did the young man earn? Well, Middleton pocketed no less than $16.5 million in the past year.

Following him on the list are Owen Fong with $15.5 million, Kobe and Corey Cotton with $14 million, Mark Fischbach with $12.5 million, and Lily Singh closes out the top ten with only $10.5 million.
