A Twitter customer service employee disabled President Donald Trump's personal account for 11 minutes last night (Friday).

The employee, who was on his last day at the company, intentionally deactivated his account, and users who tried to log in to the page were met with the message: "Sorry, the account does not exist.".

This is the Twitter account @realdonaldtrump, which has 41.7 million followers.

Twitter initially announced that "human error" led to the freezing of Trump's popular account, but two hours later it revealed that an employee in its customer service department had maliciously sabotaged the account.

""Earlier today, President Trump's account was inadvertently disabled due to human error by a Twitter employee," the initial statement read. "The account was down for 11 minutes and has since been restored. We are continuing to investigate and are taking steps to ensure this does not happen again.".

The company said that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

President Trump often uses Twitter to convey his messages directly to the public, and frequently uses his personal account, because he prefers to speak directly to the American people, without the mediation of the hostile media.
