The recommendation comes against the backdrop of the harsh words of the Balad MK, according to which the child abductors are not terrorists. The advisor is expected to adopt the recommendation and call for an investigation.

MKs asked to criminally prosecute her - the police accept the recommendation: The head of the Investigations Division, Superintendent Meni Yitzhaki, signed last night (Sunday) a recommendation to open a criminal investigation against MK Hanin Zoabi, for her statements that the boys' kidnappers are not terrorists.

In an interview with Tel Aviv Radio, the Knesset member was asked whether she did not define the hijackers as terrorists and replied: "They are not terrorists, they are people who see no way to change their reality and they are forced to use these means until Israel sobers up a little, until the citizens of Israel and society sober up a little and feel the suffering of others.".

Zoabi's words drew sharp reactions in and outside the political system. Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said: "Not only are the kidnappers terrorists, Hanin Zoabi is also a terrorist. The punishment for the kidnappers and the punishment for the instigator, the abettor of the kidnappings, Zoabi, should be the same." The coalition chairman also claimed that Zoabi's statements were particularly serious and demanded that the legal advisor take immediate steps against her. Zoabi received threats on her life, and was offered security - which she refused.

Following the storm, the police began investigating the matter and today, as stated, it was decided to recommend opening a criminal investigation against her. Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein is expected to accept the recommendation, and Zoabi will probably be summoned for questioning.
