The IDF recently revoked the status of religious girls or girls from ultra-Orthodox homes who were exempt from military service for religious reasons, after their activity on social media was monitored.

A source involved in the matter tells Haredim 10: "Any girl who has an account on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram should please close her account as soon as possible. I understand from the data I have that quite a few Haredi girls are currently in the IDF's sights.".

According to him, if there is suspicion that the girl's lifestyle is not compatible with a religious lifestyle, the IDF authorities revoke the exemption and the recruitment process begins.

The source emphasizes that only during military service does the IDF allow a special committee to request release for religious reasons again.

""If a girl has a Facebook or Twitter account, she is abroad and posts a post and the location is not changed - from their perspective, it is a violation of Shabbat. It could even be a status that was posted abroad while Shabbat had already begun in Israel. The army also checks WhatsApp connections on Shabbat...""
