Permission granted for publication: In an accident that occurred a short time ago in the Western Galilee, near the Turmos outpost, Elhai Shitrit, a 19-year-old IDF soldier, was killed. Two other soldiers, who were in the vehicle, were moderately injured and sought medical treatment.

The accident occurred when the Hummer in which the soldiers were traveling overturned while traveling on the road leading to the Turmos outpost, near the settlement of Malkiya near the Lebanese border. The cause of the accident was apparently the driver losing control. An Air Force helicopter was scrambled to the scene of the accident, and paramedics and medics who were dispatched to the scene were forced to declare the soldier dead at the scene. As mentioned, the two other soldiers traveling in the jeep were moderately injured and were evacuated to the hospital.

The cause of the accident is being investigated by the IDF. Among other things, it was checked whether the soldiers were wearing seatbelts and helmets, as required by the driving instructions in an open Hummer.
