On Purim, there are four different mitzvot, each completely different from the other, but the common denominator and main mitzvah is joy.

The Vilna Gaon, zt"l, said about her that this is the most difficult mitzvah in the Torah: It is easy to perform a technical mitzvah; to bring, take, keep, go, do or not do. It is quite simple. But something that the soul does, namely to rejoice, is something not simple.

We will detail the commandments and get to know them.

A.M.Read a scroll.

B.M.Drink

G.M.Send a package

DMGifts for the poor.

The four memes are arranged in this order, this is the way to start the engine of joy, and ignite it into great enthusiasm.

The story of the scroll is read, because a story always attracts attention. Then we sit at home with our immediate family, eat and drink, and from satiety comes peace, and then the circle widens, and we send gifts to neighbors and friends. Finally, with the joy, peace, and friendship, the heart opens and with it the pocket, and in the end, we give gifts to the poor.

The Purim celebration does not begin and end on the 14th of Adar or the next day in Jerusalem, Tiberias, and several other cities. Rather, a few weeks before Purim, the neighborhood begins to wake up, and even takes on a bit of the old-fashioned "town" vibe.

Everyone and their own reason for waking up in honor of Purim:

Yeshiva boy:

Every high yeshiva [from about age 16 until marriage] has an internal institution called the 'Groomsmen's Aid Fund', or by its more familiar name 'T"T' [-acronym: 'Tomchei Torah'].

This institution is an internal charity fund, run by several volunteers, some of the best in the group, headed by the "Tanik" - who throughout the year searches for and obtains stocks of shirts and other clothing, and other necessities, and sells them cheaply to the yeshiva students, at the foundation price - 0 profits, no expenses, no accommodation, no salaries, and no transportation. Net of the foundation price. Such an organization accumulates some debt, and precisely for this reason the management is waiting for the holiday of Purim.

But a little cheap toothpaste, and a few more pairs of socks for the winter, is a relatively small expense. The real role of the TAT Fund is to help with the high expenses of yeshiva grooms who come from low-income families.

The TAT management has organized lists of donors, and about a month before Purim, the lists are updated, organized by cities and regions, the campaign begins, and the young men are enlisted in the cause.

Although there is still little activity during this period, only a little in the late evening hours, this is how you warm up an engine to start working.

The big holiday of the yeshiva is the day of Purim itself. Then the yeshiva students go out in groups, some dressed up in group costumes, some just a little dazed and go according to the lists to the yeshiva graduates and their supporters, to offer them a partnership in the honorable mitzvah.

Usually, they go to someone who is familiar with the subject, so he is already waiting for them and knows what time they are supposed to visit his house.

The agile and talented young men also know how to expand the circle of donors, after all, there is a saying about Purim: "Everyone who extends a hand receives a gift.".

Thus the happy group moves from house to house, and everywhere they are honored with food and drink like royalty.

Some places even ask them to say some Torah verse before the wallet comes out of their pocket. Either way, the guys fill their mouths with a variety of alcohol, not just wine. The careless ones do it a little too early, and at some point they are disqualified from continuing their work.

But usually this is the minority, because these boys have high self-morality, and in addition to that they also receive guidance.

anyone:

The food deliveries that everyone makes sure to give to each other are a mitzvah that everyone must fulfill, even the children at home. As we said: the goal is joy.

Therefore, even before Purim, people go shopping for the mishluchei of the manots whose main ingredient is alcoholic beverages, each according to their own customs. Grape kohl or kohl made from other fruits, grains, or even rice.

Adults are usually not so much looking for what the market offers, but rather what they were used to in their youth at their father's house. But the young are already more open. Perhaps this is a result of the wide variety.

So in honor of Purim, I too should do the opposite, and write about something different this time. Usually I deal with wine and write about it.

But this time I will write about three different types of kosher distillates or fermentations.

''Rum' originated in the Caribbean, and some claim that it originated on the island of Barbados, which is now a country in its own right.

Rum is made from the distillate of sugar cane, which grows on plantations throughout the islands. The slaves who lived there were the ones who discovered the 'trick': after extracting the juice, usually by cooking, they take the molasses and juice and distill it, which then produces an alcoholic beverage.

The clean rum has a characteristic smell and a touch of sweetness. Recently, a kosher Caribbean rum was released - "Caribbean Sol Spiced". This is a rum made from a blend of fine, distilled rums from the island of Barbados. The bottle and cork are designed like the bottles used to send SOS messages from ships, and they were flooded with water.

Caribana has spicy flavors with hints of vanilla, nutmeg and clove. Even those who like neat rum will enjoy it as much as those who like to mix it into a cocktail. 35% Alcohol. 89 ₪ on the website Funko.

Oh, how could we forget, another important thing: it's a liter bottle. OU kosher, not for Passover.

Beer doesn't need to be explained, but I will tell you that after a day of wine tasting, you must have a beer to wash your mouth and stomach, and with Purim approaching and the forecasters promising rainy days, it's appropriate to talk about a good winter beer that I recently tasted - "Shapira Beer" is already sold and available in liquor stores and restaurants.

Their purple-labeled Jack's Winter Ale is aged with wood chips soaked in Jack Daniels. It's a sweet, slightly bitter beer with a full body and a subtle finish of whiskey wood.

8.4% Alcohol 17 shekels. Kosher of the Beit Shemesh Rabbinate.

There is also a Japanese drink made from fermenting rice with special yeast - "sake." The word means alcoholic beverage.

It is drunk as is, but it is also used to season dishes, and this of course depends on the type of rice and its level of polishing. The more polished it is, the higher the quality, because its outer parts add unwanted flavors, compared to the core of the grain, which is clean and contains a greater amount of starch.

The Born brewery also produces Junsui Junmai Daiginjo - a super premium, semi-dry sake, fermented for two years at low temperatures.

15.5% Alcohol that is almost imperceptible due to the delicate sweetness of the sake. You can feel the flavors of delicate rice with vanilla. 300 ml 65 shekels. Kosher OU.

One drinks to reach a state of witnessing ignorance between Cursed Haman and Blessed Mordechai, but those who find it difficult to drink can sleep. In sleep one also fulfills witnessing ignorance.
