Flight MH370, which disappeared on March 8th without a trace, continues to occupy the global media.

This morning, the Malaysian police chief announced that the investigation may not turn up anything and that it is not certain that the frantic search efforts underway in the southern Indian Ocean will yield results.

So far, it seems that no one knows where the plane crashed, and each passing day increases the chances of coming to terms with the fact that traces of the Boeing will never be found.

Recall that the Boeing plane took off from Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, to Beijing, the capital of China. Less than an hour after takeoff, it disappeared, after the transponders that allow radars to locate it were turned off. The suspicion is that one of the people on board caused this. However, Malaysian officials did not rule out the possibility of a mechanical failure.

About an hour later, military radar detected the plane, on the other side of the peninsula. Since then, frantic searches have been conducted for traces of the plane, currently concentrating on an area west of Australia, about a two-and-a-half-hour flight from the city of Perth.

In a press briefing, Malaysian police chief Khalid Abu Bakar said that "at the end of the investigations, we may not even know the real reason for the diversion of the plane. We may not even know the cause of the accident." Among other things, a thorough examination is being conducted regarding the identities of the passengers and crew, as well as the luggage and food served during the trip.

It should be noted that the period of time during which the black box operates to transmit signals - only about 30 days - is about to end.
