The ranking of the most read entries on Wikipedia over the past year shows that the entry on the ninth President of the State, the late Shimon Peres, was the most read entry in the online encyclopedia throughout 2016 - with half a million reads.

Immediately following it in second place was the entry "Israel", and in third place - somewhat surprisingly - the television series "Taggad".

""Donald Trump," ranked fourth, was upgraded throughout the year from a modest 1,000-character set to 50,000 characters, and its content was re-edited 582 times.

In fifth to tenth place, in order, are: Game of Thrones, the United States, countries by population, ranks in the IDF, the late Yitzhak Rabin, who received a substantial increase in viewership near the anniversary of his assassination and the discussion about stopping funding for the rally in his memory, and Benjamin Ze'ev Herzl.

The entry "Benjamin Netanyahu" remained outside the top ten entries, ranking 11th with a gap of 9,000 reads, to enter the list.

Michal Lester, CEO of Wikimedia Israel, says that the analysis of views revealed the use of Wikipedia in the education system. Students are exposed to information from subjects integrated into the curriculum such as: Ben Gurion, the solar system, the Seder bowl, the periodic table, and more.

""In addition, we see that the general public is learning about issues that are becoming topical, such as the salmonella issue, which has been observed many times during the turbulent period surrounding the publications about food poisoning, Conservative Judaism, and the Yemenite children's affair.".

In the past year, 512,564,440 pages were viewed on the Hebrew Wikipedia, each day on average 1,525,489 pages are viewed, and 45 new entries are written.

The number of active editors in Israel is 760 per month, of which 150 are very active.
