Are your children out for a social evening and you're worried about them? A new Google app will allow your loved ones to receive your location and see that everything is okay - even if you can't answer the phone, as revealed by the geektime website.
In many emergencies, as we know, the location of people is critical, and the ability to know exactly where they are is very important. But even when it's not an emergency, we want to know that our child, or elderly grandmother, is in good condition, and that's what the new app is designed for.
Geektime technology expert Yaniv Avital explains that the new app allows users to passively share their location with contacts they choose, so that even if they are in a situation where they cannot answer or turn on the phone, those close to them will be able to locate them and know their location.
Once you install the app, you can define the contacts you trust and with whom you want to share your location in an emergency. The app allows you to share your location with them for a set period of time. So if you are walking around in a dangerous or suspicious area, you can, for example, set a friend or girlfriend to be able to see your location (and battery status) for half an hour.
How exactly does it work? When a contact requests your location, a notification similar to a phone call will appear on your phone, asking you to allow the app to share your location. The app also allows contacts to see if your device has been used recently.
