Amichai Spiegler (23) has been connected to Hasidic music with every fiber of his being since a young age.
His grandfather – Cantor Meir Shiker, the late, was a well-known prayer leader in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, and also in Ramat Gan after he immigrated to Israel. The connection between them was strong and Amichai believes that he bequeathed to him his vocal abilities and love for the world of music.
Grandpa Meir always said that singing was the instrument given to him by heaven to make people around him happy and uplift them. Grandson Amichai follows in his footsteps and often goes up to the synagogue to stand as a public servant. Praise from worshippers on the one hand and from his extended family on the other, led to his musical specialization and the composition of original songs.
"Shov'i Nafshi" is the first single that Amichai is releasing these days. The song was edited by Daniel Bensamian, who also accompanied the song's composition process, polished it, and turned the song into what it is today. Amichai is personally connected to the Book of Psalms: "Everything that King David writes touches me, which is why I chose these words. I also chose a relatively catchy melody, so that people can easily connect with it.".
Amichai has several more melodies in his repertoire, also from Psalms. Daniel Bensamian is working on producing them these very days and the finished result will arrive soon. Amichai's goal is to make as many Jews in Israel and around the world happy, and the journey is just beginning.
