For the first time, the Israel Police allows the public to contact the 100 emergency hotline via a special mobile application, developed by the police - and from today it will be possible to contact the 100 hotline immediately, using two taps on the mobile device screen.
The caller's location will be broadcast to the 100 hotline in real time for accurate and rapid location for the arrival of mobility if necessary.
In addition to improving service to citizens, by making the hotline services accessible through a mobile application, this is a police development that promotes the effectiveness of emergency management and the hotline's immediate operational response, including:
• Effectiveness in incident management - the ability to view in real time the exact location of a person in distress. Assistance to a citizen who is unable to explain his location, or who accidentally navigates to a place where he feels at risk and needs guidance.
• Assessing the reliability of a report based on its location.
• Viewing a map bridges the difficulty of hearing and perception.
• Shortening mobile launch and arrival time.
• Filtering harassers – based on the source and location of the report.
The '100 Emergency' app is available starting this week for download in both iPhone and Android mobile stores.
In addition, the police intend to allow other applications that the public commonly uses to integrate the advanced dialer.
The Israel Police issued a 'call for applications' and invited location-oriented, driving, parking, and other applications that meet professional needs and technological capabilities to apply and integrate the emergency button on their home page for the convenience of users.
At this stage, the application was integrated into the 'Pengo' application, which sought to allow its customers to click the 'red button' that would appear on the main screen of the application and reach the 100 hotline directly. Approximately 1.5 million drivers in Israel are connected to the Pengo application.
The police emphasize that this is an important measure that can save lives.
"We request and emphasize to the public that this means should only be used in emergency situations that require police assistance," the police say - adding: "This is another pillar in the Ministry of Public Security and the Israel Police's plan to strengthen the technological and professional capabilities of Hotline 100 with the aim of improving service to citizens.".
