The Prime Minister's wife, Sara Netanyahu, participated this evening (Monday) as the guest of honor at the Likud Women's Hanukkah event in Kfar Maccabiah.
Netanyahu, who was warmly welcomed by the Likud women, delivered a speech and said: "The Likud women are a symbol and example of the ability of women to fulfill themselves and make a significant contribution - behind the scenes and on stage - for the people of Israel, for the State of Israel.
""On the holiday of Hanukkah, we celebrate the heroism of our people who renewed their independence. Our people who chose to spread light to the world - and thus drive away the darkness. The story of Hanukkah is more relevant than ever, as our people continue to drive away the darkness, continue to fight for their existence, and spread light and goodness to the world.".
Netanyahu added: "The Prime Minister is doing everything to fight terror and maintain Israel's security. The war on terror is more determined and aggressive than ever. I am convinced that we will also defeat this wave of terror, just as our people defeated terror over the past hundred years. I trust the Prime Minister to continue to do everything to protect our people, our land and our state - and I know that you also agree with me. He is unfit to lead the people of Israel at this time.".
In a personal address to Likud members, Netanyahu sought to thank them for their support during the last election campaign, against the backdrop of "an unprecedented attack of slander and lies, cruel 'shaming' that sought to harm the Likud government by personally harming me.".
Netanyahu thanked the women of the Likud: "You have supported, strengthened, and believed in me - and for that, and for everything you do every day for the common good, for our country, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart.".
Meital Ohana, the wife of the late Amir, who died on Rosh Hashanah in Uman, Ukraine, also spoke in the evening, during which she thanked Netanyahu for her activities and support while her husband was missing in Uman until his body was located and brought to Israel for burial.
""I received a lot of support and love from the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, and his wife, Mrs. Sara, who is dear to my heart," said Meital. "Thousands of words will not be enough to express the gratitude in my heart to Mrs. Sara Netanyahu. It is not taken for granted, the assistance I received in finding Amir, bringing him to Israel and burying him in our country, and all with modesty and silence.".
""Even today, Mrs. Sara Netanyahu strengthens me and takes care of my family and children. I want to thank her for that from the bottom of my heart.".
