Attacker Rafael Cohen released, but will remain in custody until tomorrow • The Protocol

Rafael Yehuda Cohen, the young man who was arrested last night on suspicion of assaulting Yehezkel Ariel, an assistant to the representative of the Bnei Torah faction on the Elite Intelligence Council, was brought before a Jerusalem Magistrate's Court judge today (Wednesday) for a hearing on extending his detention. • After the attack - Rabbi Kessler: "Woe to us that the hatred within us has increased to this extent"" • Assistant to Bnei Torah representative in Modiin Elite attacked; suspect arrested כהן חשוד כי תקף באלימות את אריאל ביציאה מתפילת שחרית בית הכנסת 'בית תפילה' במודיעין עילית. במהלך הדיון טען פרקליטו של כהן, עו"ד משה מורגנשטרן, כי מרשו הוא המותקף, וכי אריאל הוא שפתח בקטטה האלימה. בסיום הדיון החליט השופט לשחרר את כהן למעצר בית. אלא שהפרקליטות דרשה עיכוב ביצוע. בעקבות כך יישאר כהן במעצר עוד 24 שעות.  מחר הוא יובא בפני שופט בית משפט המחוזי, שיכריע האם הוא ישוחרר למעצר בית או יאריך את מעצרו.
