The founders of the famous Skype program in a new venture: A robot that travels independently, capable of carrying loads, such as shopping, to the customer's home.

According to a report in the British Telegraph, the robot's developers say that it will be able to carry a weight of up to 9 kg, and the time that will pass from the time it leaves to the customer's home will not exceed 30 minutes.

Its speed will reach 6.5 km/h. "It will only be used for deliveries within a few kilometers of the store," the company explains.

Another advantage of the technological delivery truck is its ability to enter narrow paths and alleys, where a regular delivery truck cannot enter.

The robot will be monitored by the store's control room, but will generally move autonomously without the need for additional assistance. When it arrives at the customer's home, the customer will be able to open the trunk using a special app. The robot will then return to the store on its own for further charging.

And how much will the pleasure cost?

According to the plan, no more than €1 per delivery. "Every year, the sales turnover in the UK is €150,000,000,000. The payments for deliveries for many products are extremely high. The robot will significantly reduce the cost of this service," say its developers.

The robot's launch is planned for 2016.
