An hour and a half after the end of Shabbat, and the city of Monroe was already completely jammed: Tens of thousands of celebrants from all over New York and New Jersey came to celebrate Rashbi's Yom Hilula in Kiryat Yoel. •
At 11:30 PM, the Rebbe from Satmar arrived at the 'Heichal Tishish', where the halakhah was held for Hasidic children who had reached the age of 3, between Passover and Lag BaOmer. Due to the heavy traffic, the Rebbe left for the bonfire an hour later than planned - at 12:45 PM.
In the courtyard in front of the Beit Midrash, tens of thousands waited for the lighting ceremony, andAfter the awakening melodies, the Rebbe lit the bonfire in honor of the Rashbi. Immediately after the lighting, tens of thousands of celebrants came out dancing in joy, to the sound of the Meron melodies. The Rebbe stood on a special stage, while next to the stage, the children of the Halaka danced on their parents' shoulders.
News agencies such as Reuters and the Associated Press, along with other media teams, sent photographers to document the event. According to the AP report, 50,000 revelers attended the event.
After hours of dancing, the Haggadah "Tish Chaim" was held at the Midrash, on the occasion of the Day of Rejoicing, which lasted until dawn.
