Forget about rulers and measuring tapes: A new app that was launched last month in the App Store - the iPhone app store - puts an end to the various options we have known to date for measuring the length of objects, and it will also help you this year, on the eve of the holiday of Sukkot, measure the length of the lulav - whether it is according to the shiur of Rabbi Chaim Naeh or according to the shiur of the Chazon Ish.
The new SizeUP app from My Size is the first measuring app based on innovative technology that allows for two-dimensional measurement using the sensors available on smartphones.
The app has currently only been launched for the iPhone, and My Size says it will soon be launched for Android devices, and in the future, a 3D measurement app will also be launched that can measure body and clothing dimensions.
Great success was recorded on the first day of the app's launch, after it reached fourth place in the App Store's download rankings with thousands of downloads per day.
Ronen Luzon, CEO of My Size, said: "Alongside the new SizeUp app – which for the first time can provide measurements using the sensors available on a smartphone. We are working diligently with Trucco, our European partner, to launch our 3D measurement technology, which will allow every user to measure their body measurements and purchase clothes online.".
Eli Valls, Chairman of My Size, said following the launch of the new app: "The use of My Size's innovative technology for daily or halachic needs, such as measuring the length of the lulav or hadasim for today's mitzvah on the holiday of Sukkot, serves as an important milestone in the company's efforts to bring a technological breakthrough that will change the methods of measurement for various needs.".
