Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon canceled his participation in the Likud toast event after it became clear to him that MK Oren Hazan was also scheduled to attend the event and sit on stage. This was revealed this evening on Channel 2.

The incident occurred yesterday, not long after the police announced that they were recommending that MK Hazan be prosecuted on suspicion of assaulting a public servant, allegedly before he was appointed as a member of Knesset.

A cantor arrived at MK David Bitan's home where the toast was held, and even delivered a speech.

Minister Ya'alon learned that Hazan was at the scene of the incident and made it clear to his associates: "I will not participate in this masquerade ball.".

Ya'alon also told his associates: "Oren Hazan is disrespecting the Likud movement and its values.".

The Defense Minister claimed that he receives many inquiries from Likud members who do not speak out publicly, and clarified: "The time has come to say out loud what the majority thinks.".
