Did Yesh Atid Chairman MK Yair Lapid succeed in breaking the boycott of the new Minister of Health, MK Yaakov Litzman, not to say "hello" to him?
As is known, unlike other ultra-Orthodox members of Knesset, Litzman insists on not referring to Lapid - and he repeats: "Hatred for the ultra-Orthodox is his flag. Someone who has done everything in his power for two years to destroy the ultra-Orthodox world and ultra-Orthodox families, someone who gives me two slaps - I am not his friend.".
Lapid, in response, told me: "I will continue to say hello to him, until he breaks down. Gafni says hello to me, Mozes is a real friend, a retired man, I don't think so, but maybe I'm not trying hard enough...""
However, today (Wednesday) at noon, Omri Nachmias, the parliamentary correspondent for the 'Walla' website in the Knesset, tweeted on his Twitter page: "A little history in the tabernacle: Lapid and Litzman exchanged a few words, and Lapid even voted 'very much in favor' of the appointment in a Semitic vote.".
• Kobi Isaac, the media advisor to the Minister of Health, did this happen?
The answer was: Strongly denied.
Those around Lapid say: "There was no peace, but there was a smile...""
As you may recall, immediately after the decision of the Council of Torah Elders of Agudat Yisrael to grant Litzman approval to serve as Minister of Health, Lapid wrote on his Facebook page: "The cynics will sneer as always, but this is a historic moment. A large and important public has entered under the Israeli stretcher.".
He said, "We may not always like their decisions, but that's how it is in a democracy. I believe that on social issues they can bring to the government table – around which sit quite a few politicians who are only concerned with themselves – an important voice of Jewish compassion.".
""And above all – it is taking responsibility. A life together begins with shared responsibility.".
""I congratulate the Council of Torah Scholars on its historic decision and wish Yaakov Litzman success in his role.".
