A murderer who mercilessly ran over four children in front of their mother has been sentenced to one year in prison. The mother and four other children managed to escape, but later died from their injuries.
If the one-year prison sentence seems a bit strange to you, it's important to note that the man, Jason Scott, who lives in Florida, ran over ducklings that his neighbor had fed along with their mother.
Scott was mowing his lawn with a lawnmower when he spotted the mother duck and her eleven chicks. He continued mowing the lawn without trying to get past the ducklings.
Four of them died on the spot, three managed to escape, and the mother and four others fled to the lake, where two more died from their wounds.
During his police interrogation, Scott said: "They were in my way, and I just kept mowing.".
The court was not impressed with the argument, and sentenced him to a year in prison for animal cruelty.
The neighbor, who witnessed the brutal attack, said: "The court was merciful, there is no explanation for what he did, he is a violent man.".
