Passersby on the streets of Alaska couldn't understand why a rain of scary animals 'fell' on them straight from the sky. • Vampires? A hoax from an entertainment show? And what did the local Department of Agriculture have to say about the phenomenon?

What is happening in Alaska - the northernmost state in the United States?

Scary creatures - there's no better way to describe them - have landed on the streets and in the courtyards of houses, terrifying residents, reports the Sky News website.

Rumors quickly spread through the streets: vampire fish, fish monsters, and aliens were just some of the wild hypotheses raised regarding the strange animals.

Others tried to offer a more sophisticated explanation: it was a hoax by an entertainment channel that was trying to test residents' reactions to the strange creatures.

The rumors continued to flow until the Ministry ofKThe local eyewitness solved the mystery: it is a lamprey fish – a fish that grows in freshwater and feeds on the blood of other fish.

And how did he get to play?

Here too, the answer is simple: seagulls apparently love the bloody lamprey, and they hunt it in large quantities.

However, the seagull does not always manage to grab the fish with its beak and it falls from its flying position to the ground.

Naturally, the landing sometimes occurs on someone's head, causing panic and severe anxiety.
