Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat is apparently too involved in the life of his city. Otherwise, it is difficult to explain what happened this morning in the capital.
Barkat, who was riding his bicycle from his home to his office in Safra Square, separated two citizens who were involved in a violent incident this morning (Sunday).
The 'Globes' website reports that Barekat noticed two drivers hitting each other over a traffic jam in the Sacher Park area. The mayor did not hesitate, stopped his bike - and jumped in to forcefully separate the two hawks.
The mayor then called in police and rescue forces.
This is not the first time that Barkat has put himself in danger to thwart violent events. About three and a half months ago, Barkat took control and neutralized a Palestinian terrorist who stabbed a young man near Safra Square.
The municipality told 'Globes' in response: "The mayor was riding his bicycle on the way from his home to his office when he saw two people beating each other up for obstructing traffic in the middle of the road and endangering each other's lives.
""Barkat stopped his bike and jumped to forcefully separate the people. After he managed to separate them and calm things down, the mayor called the police to the scene, and remained there until the police and Magen David Adom arrived to continue treating them.".
