A powerful explosion occurred this evening (Tuesday) in the city of Kuzin in central Iran at a site that authorities claim is used as an oil warehouse. The semi-official Fars news agency reported 50 deaths, a report that was later deleted. Authorities now say they expect many casualties, including serious injuries, but no fatalities. The Mehr news agency reported that the explosion occurred in an oil warehouse for machines in the commercial city, which is home to many shops, and that a huge fire broke out there. According to this report, there were no deaths or injuries in the incident, but two firefighters were moderately injured while trying to control the fire that is still raging there.
