Disgrace: On Founders Street in Kiryat Ata, the city's large Ashkenazi synagogue was broken into. The HaKashteh synagogue is located in the state building, in a building that used to house a mosque, and is used by the city's ultra-Orthodox sector.

The synagogue was apparently broken into by thieves who were looking for the charity boxes.

Shimi, a synagogue worshipper, tells the Haredim10: "On the very day when the entire country celebrates independence, our misery becomes apparent - that we are considered as inferior to the Gentiles. We break into a synagogue in order to find a few shekels.".
