tragedy: Levi Yitzhak Konstantinis, a one and a half year old toddler, was found dead in a car in the Beit Hagai settlement in the southern Hebron Mountains - after his father forgot him in the car.
While an initial investigation into the incident suggests negligence, the parents will only be questioned in a few hours due to their condition, as they are in a state of emotional turmoil due to the disaster. Acquaintances in the community say that these are "devoted and wonderful parents.".
The police investigation indicates that the toddler was forgotten in his father's car at 9 a.m., near the children's daycare located in the town, in heavy heat and under the scorching sun. It should be noted that temperatures felt throughout the country during the day exceeded 40 degrees in some areas.
The father returned to his car after more than six hours, and to his surprise, found his son there. MDA teams attempted to perform CPR on him, but all their efforts were in vain. At this stage, it is not yet clear how no one noticed the toddler's absence from kindergarten.
In a chilling coincidence, it turns out that the paramedic who arrived at the scene and pronounced him dead also gave birth to the baby about a year and a half ago. "The feeling is terrible, you see a mother's smile as she takes the baby into her arms and in the end that child dies," said paramedic Zaki Yahav.
The United Hatzalah organization reiterates its reminder to parents and adults to pay attention and never leave children in cars, even for a moment. The organization notes that unfortunately, last summer, several disasters occurred as a result of children and toddlers being forgotten in vehicles.
The funeral left at 9:15 PM from the family home in the Beit Hagai settlement for the Susya Cemetery.
