Where is the truth and where is the disguise?

As the election campaign draws to a close, the level of environmental pollution it produces increases. Look at the mud splattered everywhere, the hatred and the rumbling of controversy.

As if all means are valid to try to gain more votes, or for a higher goal – to make the other party receive fewer votes.

Only about half a year ago we were a symbol and example of wonderful unity. The days of 'Protective Edge' brought to light all that is good and beautiful in the people of Israel. Volunteering, helping others, mutual support, caring. Remember the huge funerals of the lone soldiers? What a wonderful spirit enveloped us all then.

Can't believe it's the same people.

Election fever

But it turns out that we have always had these two sides. When Haman tries to convince Ahasuerus to destroy the Jews, he tells him: "There is one people scattered and divided." This is the impression he got from the situation at that time.

Before the decree of Haman was announced, the Jewish people seemed divided and divided. Some called for going to Ahasuerus' banquet, while others vigorously opposed it. Some advocated integration into the cultural life of the Persian and Median kingdoms, while others saw it as a threat to the existence of Judaism.

The Jewish people seemed to be torn apart and at odds with themselves.

But when the decree was announced, the people came together. Suddenly, all the divisions and divisions disappeared. Everyone gathered, fasted and prayed, with strong faith in the Creator of the world, the Protector of Israel.

At that moment, it became clear that the appearance of separation was only an external image, while inside we are all united and cohesive.

The big question is what is our true essence and what is the disguise. Did our truth come to light during the days of 'Protective Edge' or is the cockfight that is now unfolding before our eyes a mirror reflecting our image. Who are we really and what is the disguise?

We believe that our true character was revealed during the days of 'Protective Edge.' Within us, we have that mutual guarantee and sense of unity. Routine erodes this inner feeling.

Everyday events sometimes overshadow it. Now the election fever is driving us crazy and making us act like street kids. But this murky wave will pass and we will return to being who we truly are.

And vice versa

It is important that we come to our senses quickly. Then and now, we stand before the enemies of the Jews, who seek to "destroy, kill, and lose." The horrors that these dark forces inflict on their own people and on the captives who fall into their hands illustrate the magnitude of the danger they pose.

They are faced with an indifferent world, engaged in polite diplomacy and political correctness. Look at the agreement taking shape with Iran.

At this time, it is our duty to unite and unite, as Esther said to Mordecai: "Go, gather all the Jews." Our enemies do not distinguish between right and left, between Ashkenazim and Sephardim, between religious and non-religious, between rich and poor.

We must stand before them united and united, praying together to our Father in Heaven and asking that "the Lord will not forsake His people, nor forsake His inheritance.".

Let us put aside the hustle and bustle of the elections, rejoice together in the joy of Purim, send portions to one another and give gifts to the poor, and deserve "and it shall be, that the Jews shall rule over their enemies," here and now.
