Outgoing Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Benny Gantz He was filmed giving alms to a begging group in the rain. Seymour Luzon, who was there that cold, wet morning, took a photo of Gantz and posted the photo onHis Facebook page.
According to him, Gantz stopped his convoy and gave the elderly woman a 200 shekel bill.
""It's 8 a.m., after I've dropped the kids off at playtime, I'm standing in my car at a traffic light," Luzon writes on Facebook. "It's cold and rainy outside. I see an old woman sitting behind a bush at an intersection, covered in layers and barely visible, putting her hand out to feel if it's actually raining. I wonder who will stop their car now and get out of their comfort zone to let her spend Shabbat in peace...
""And suddenly a convoy of cars stops, only I'm still staring at the lady and wondering whether to get out of the car or not. And out of the convoy comes our Chief of Staff, Benny Gantz, and his security guards with a 200 shekel bill. He gave them to her and returned to his car.".
The reactions on Facebook were, of course, particularly sympathetic, and users praised and hailed Gantz for the noble act.
