Regret for the past: This morning (Thursday), a "clarification" ad was published in the Yated Ne'eman and HaMvesher newspapers, in which students of the Gaon Rabbi Yitzhak Ezrachi, head of the Mir Yeshiva, write that a letter of congratulations he gave to a recently published book is being canceled.
The 'Clarification' reads: "The students of the Gaon Rabbi Yitzhak Ezrachi, shlita, the head of the Mir Yeshiva, wish to convey on his behalf that after very serious things were written in a recently printed book, may God have mercy on one of the great men of the generations. The letter of blessing given by him for this book is nullified. And may God, the Blessed, save us from all sin and error.".
Haredim10 learned that the book in question is 'A Calling in the Desert,' published by the young man Shmuel Orbach, 40, and containing things he recorded from discussion evenings at the Mir and Aterat Yisrael yeshivot summer camps on various fascinating topics that were discussed in symposia by yeshivot students and religious leaders.
The Rabbi Ezrachi gave him a letter of congratulations, not approval, but following a disparaging remark about Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, may God be pleased with him, on one of the pages of the book, the Breslov Hasidim demanded that the Rabbi Ezrachi apologize.
In light of this, his associates decided to publish the clarification.
