Mailach Schnitzler, a 38-year-old Jewish man, a resident of the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, was convicted on Monday in a Brooklyn court, as part of a plea bargain in which he admitted to the charges against him, and was sentenced to five years in prison on probation.

Schnitzler, a Satmar Hasid, poured a glass of economics in the face of Rabbi Nachum Rosenberg, who also serves as a child protection lawyer and advocate against child abusers.

The attack on Rosenberg was carried out in the period after Nehemiah Weberman was convicted and sent to serve 103 years in prison on charges of serious abuse - and a day after the attacker's father was convicted of assaulting children.

Rosenberg had a hand in replacing the previous Brooklyn prosecutor, who was accused of taking a soft hand toward child molesters. Upon receiving the verdict today, Rosenberg said: "We replaced the prosecutor, but not the conduct of the prosecutor's office. What about our defense?""

The defendant's lawyer expressed satisfaction, claiming that Rosenberg was not harmed at all by the economy, and that he doubts the assistance he provides to the affected children.

""The defendant was working at the fish store when Rosenberg passed by," the attorney said. "He went out with the intention of confronting him about his part in his father's conviction, about his posting on the blog he owned. He just wanted to embarrass him.".
