Border Guard soldiers in the Jerusalem Encirclement and Jerusalem District police thwarted an attempt to smuggle 8 illegal residents who were deported in a double-walled commercial vehicle
This morning (Tuesday), following information received in the David area of the Jerusalem District about an intention to smuggle illegal residents, Border Police soldiers operating in the Jerusalem Encirclement operated at the Ring Road checkpoint and stopped a suspicious commercial vehicle.
When the vehicle was stopped, the driver of the vehicle attempted to escape from the forces, but after a short chase was arrested by Border Guard soldiers.
During a search of the vehicle, the soldiers located a double wall that had been removed in the rear of the commercial vehicle, and inside it were eight suspects hiding in a dense crowd.
An investigation revealed that all of the suspects who attempted to infiltrate Israel illegally were residents of Tulkarm, Nablus, and Jenin, and they were arrested on the spot.
The driver of the vehicle, a resident of Anata in his 30s, was also arrested on suspicion of transporting and smuggling illegal residents.
All suspects were transferred for further investigation to the David area of the Jerusalem District.
