During an initiative by the Crime Fighting Unit from the Gilad region, to locate and thwart illegal residence offenses, police officers noticed a suspicious vehicle coming from the direction of the Palestinian town of Al-Izaria towards Jerusalem, via the Al-Za'im crossing.
Police forces prepared to stop the vehicle that was detected passing the checkpoint and entering the capital.
After a short chase, the vehicle, driven by an Israeli citizen resident of Kafr Qassem, was captured.

During a search of the vehicle, four illegal residents were located, hiding under the back seat and in the trunk.
Upon checking the vehicle details at the police terminal, it emerged that a report had been received shortly before that the vehicle had been stolen this morning.
The five suspects - the driver and the IDF officers - were arrested and transferred for further investigation to the Ma'ale Adumim station.
