New York State Governor Kathy Hockley signed a new order today (Sunday) prohibiting demonstrations within 15 meters of houses of worship and educational institutions in the state.
The order was drafted after a series of anti-Israel demonstrations that took place in front of Jewish synagogues and, in some cases, prevented access to synagogues and schools.
Hockley signed the order hours before the opening of the annual Israel Salute Parade in Manhattan, which the governor plans to attend.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani boycotts the march for Israel.
The municipality will be represented in the parade by the Jewish New York Police Chief, Jessica Tisch.
