Hater of Israel: New York Mayor Zohran Mammadani will not participate in the traditional 'Israel Salute Parade', which will be held on Sunday in Manhattan under heavy security.
The parade, which takes place every year, is attended by tens of thousands of participants.
Mamdani's decision makes him the first New York mayor not to attend the event since it began in 1964.
Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon responded to him in a tweet on the X network: "It's okay, we'll manage without you.".
New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, a Jew from a Zionist family, stood by Mamdani during his statement that he would not participate - and made it clear that she herself would participate in the parade. Tisch stated that she would march in the parade "with pride.".
Regarding police preparations for the parade, Tisch said: "We are not playing around with parade security - residents will see the most comprehensive security program the NYPD has ever put in place.".
