20 years after his death: At a historic meeting held yesterday (Thursday) at the home of the Rebbe, Rabbi Lipa Friedman, in Monsey, the inheritance of the holy relics of the Rebbe, the author of the "Barach Moshe" of Satmar, zt"l, was officially divided among his four sons.
The inheritance, which includes books, manuscripts, and sacred objects from the founder of the Yismach Moshe dynasty of Uyhal to the Rebbe Rabbi Yoel of Satmar, zt"l, is estimated at millions of dollars.
Over the past year, the objects have been cataloged and their values estimated.
Before the meeting, four equal packages were prepared - in terms of their monetary value and spiritual importance - and each contained sacred objects, manuscripts, and unique items.
Among the notable items: Tefillin, a complete set of 'Kedushat Yom Tov', and a menorah that belonged to him.
After comparing the values, a lottery was held.
The delay in dividing the inheritance lasted 20 years due to the schism that tore the Satmar Hasidism in two, after the passing of the 'Blessed Moses'.
In preparation for the 20th day of the festival, which fell on the 26th of Nisan, the family members - the sons and sons-in-law of the author of the "Blessings of Moses" - published a rare and unprecedented letter, under the title "Letter of Request and Severe Warning," which was published in the centers of both factions in the Satmar community. In the letter, the family members called on all those who hold objects from the inheritance to return them to the estate.
The publication of the letter was the culmination of a long-standing effort, through intermediaries from both factions, to divide the Rebbe's inheritance.
With the encouragement of the Rebbe, Mahara of Satmar, objects that were in the possession of Hasidim and associates were returned.
