Following the election process for the rabbi of the Neve Moshav, the elections committee announced today (Wednesday) that Rabbi Mordechai Hess was officially elected to the position of rabbi of the Moshav.
The election of Rabbi Hess constitutes a significant milestone in establishing spiritual leadership in Moshav Neve, with all its many enterprises and educational institutions, as well as in providing accessible and high-quality religious services to all residents.
Rabbi Mordechai Hess is a graduate of the Merkaz HaRav Yeshiva. He was a student of the Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Zvi Yehuda HaCohen Kook, zt"l, and is considered one of the most distinguished students of the President of the Har HaMor Yeshiva, Rabbi Zvi Israel Tau, and of the Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Amiel Sternberg.
He also studied at the Alon Shvut Hesder Yeshiva in Gush Etzion, where he served as a fighter in the Nahal Brigade.
He served as a neighborhood rabbi in the settlement of Eli, taught at the pre-military preparatory school and at the Bnei David kollel, and gave lessons at the Alon Moreh Hesder Yeshiva. He also served as a rabbi at the Har HaMor Yeshiva.
Rabbi Hess wrote many books on Halacha and faith, and his books were approved by the greatest of the generation.
About twenty years ago, after being displaced from Gush Katif, he began serving as rabbi of the Neveh settlement in Holot Halutza, and serves as the head of the Mamdebar Matana yeshiva and rabbi of the Neveh educational institutions.
Thanks to the regulation of standards for rabbis of moshavim, Rabbi Hess was selected to serve as the rabbi of the settlement under the Ministry of Religious Services' standards.
Upon his election to the position, Rabbi Hess thanked the director general of the ministry and the settlement committee for choosing him as the rabbi of the settlement, and said: "I accept the burden of the rabbiship of the Neve settlement with reverence, out of a deep sense of mission and great responsibility towards the entire public and the precious families in the settlement. We live in a great generation, a generation of the revival of the nation in its land, in which we are privileged to see eye to eye in the return of God to Zion and in the building of the Torah in our land.
""Our deep aspiration is to continue to magnify and glorify the Torah, and to act with a kind eye, humility, and a burden-bearing spirit with the rest of our brothers, the children of Israel, wherever they may be. Out of loyalty and a deep connection to the roots of the Torah and faith, and out of unity and devotion to friends, we will continue to build another level of spirit, kindness, and growth in the community and the entire region, and we will be partners in raising the glory of the people of Israel in their land.""
