A week ago, a serious clash occurred in the area of the village of Kawza in southern Lebanon, during which Major (retd.) Itamar Sapir was killed when a Hezbollah terrorist opened fire from inside a church.
According to a statement from an IDF spokesman, today (Wednesday) it can be confirmed that the terrorist was eliminated through tank fire and a targeted airstrike by the Air Force, after he was identified as entering a building on the church grounds.
The assassination was carried out thanks to a quick and precise combination of forces between fighters from the 401st Brigade, forces from the 146th Division, the armor formation, and Air Force pilots, who settled accounts with the terrorist, just minutes after he was identified in the field.
The brigade's fighters launched a targeted hunt for the escaped terrorist. Using advanced surveillance equipment, the forces identified the terrorist as he attempted to hide and entered a nearby building in the church area.
Upon receiving operational approval and close monitoring to prevent unnecessary damage, the armored forces began firing tank shells directly at the structure, simultaneously directing Air Force fighter jets that dropped precision munitions on the target.
The force of the combined explosion eliminated the terrorist on the spot.
