Israel carried out an unusual attack in the Gaza Strip this evening (Tuesday) and killed Muhammad Odeh, the new commander of Hamas' military wing.
A security source confirmed that Israel received confirmation of Odeh's killing, about two hours after the attack in the Gaza Strip.
Odeh was appointed leader of Hamas' military wing just a week ago, replacing Izz ad-Din Haddad, who was eliminated 10 days ago.
Earlier this evening, Palestinian sources reported the sounds of intense explosions in western Gaza City, which were caused by the IDF's 'belt of fire' activity. According to some reports in the Gaza Strip, the IDF carried out three targeted attacks near the 'Sha'fut' restaurant located on the Salah a-Din highway.
A joint statement from Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz stated:
""On the orders of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, the IDF has now attacked Muhammad Odeh in Gaza - the new leader of the military wing of the Hamas terrorist organization and one of the architects of the October 7 massacre.
Odeh served as head of Hamas's intelligence headquarters during the October 7 massacre, and was appointed about a week ago to replace Izz ad-Din al-Haddad - who was killed in an IDF attack on the Gaza Strip about two weeks ago.
Odeh was responsible for the murder, kidnapping, and injury of many Israeli citizens and IDF soldiers.
Congratulations to the IDF and Shin Bet for the ongoing effort to eliminate our enemies. We will continue to pursue everyone who took part in the October 7 massacre. Sooner or later, Israel will catch up with them all.".
