This evening (Sunday), Degel Hatorah Chairman, MK Moshe Gafni, is celebrating the joy of his grandson Aaron's wedding to the daughter of the former mayor of Bnei Brak and secretary of the Degel Hatorah Council, Avraham Rubinstein.

But what was supposed to be a private family celebration became the target of a blatant attack by the Mothers on the Frontline organization.

The statement issued by the anti-Haredi organization reads: "Who wouldn't want to be Moshe Gafni? Tonight, MK Moshe Gafni is celebrating the wedding of his grandson, Aharon. While we search with candles for anti-drone nets and fear a knock on the door, they are sewing wedding dresses and suits.".

Yitzhak Abuhatzeira, the editor of the C14 website, responded: "The organization's criticism attempts to link the basic right to celebrate family events with the political dispute over the draft law. According to them, while their children are on the front lines, the Haredi leadership 'zealously guards its rights' and continues with the routine of life, which includes weddings and celebrations, under what they call 'financing from our own funds.'".

He added: "In wartime Israel, weddings are held every evening in all sectors – secular, religious and ultra-Orthodox alike – as part of the attempt to maintain national resilience and continuity. The question that arises is whether the claim that a family should refrain from 'sewing dresses and suits' due to the security situation is a demand that goes beyond the boundaries of the political debate about conscription.".
