The chairman of the 'Unity' party, Naftali Bennett, tweeted on his X account at noon (Wednesday) a message that he is "going to the Knesset to stop the draft evasion law" - after the discussion in the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Security Committee on the draft bill had already ended.
Bennett wrote: "I am now on my way to the Knesset building, to stop the outgoing government from enacting the abominable evasion law in its final moments. This is against the backdrop of Netanyahu's desperate attempts to pressure coalition members to betray IDF soldiers and the dictates of their conscience.".
Bennett, Mansour Abbas' partner who refused to condemn the October 7 massacre, promised: "We will not let them abandon the IDF soldiers. We will protect the soldiers. The alliance of those who serve will defeat the alliance of those who evade.".
Foreign Affairs and Security Committee Chairman Boaz Bismuth responded to him with a sneer: "Good morning Bennett. The debate ended two hours ago. On election day, set an alarm clock, not that it will help you...""
Surfers also mocked in their comments.
One of the surfers wrote: "How exactly will you block the law? You are not a member of Knesset, and in a democracy, laws are made by legislators or blockers in Knesset committees by voting. By the way, the debate ended a long time ago.".
Another surfer mocked: "Enough, what a hero. I hope the Knesset Guard rolls out the red carpet for you... Let me remind you, you are a citizen for all intents and purposes. Go back to your corner!""
Another surfer wrote: "I don't understand. How exactly will you block the law? Will you beat up MKs? Will you block the entrance to the plenum? We've had enough of empty statements from members of the current government. We don't need that from you either.".
