Amit Segal, Channel 12's political commentator, addressed this evening (Tuesday) the decision by Attorney Gali Baharav Meyara to file an indictment against MK Tali Gottlieb of the Likud, for revealing the name of a Shin Bet agent.
According to Segal, the indictment does indeed reach Gottlieb, but the picture is more complex. "In terms of substance, it is certain that Tali Gottlieb deserves to be indicted," Segal wrote.
He explained: "She published the name of a senior Shin Bet official - with false stories about a connection between him and Sinwar, but it's up to him to sue civilly.".
According to Segal, "In a perfect world, members of Knesset would not publish confidential details, would not lie about the security services, and would not get involved in such incidents.".
However, Segal also turned the spotlight on Gali Bahar's statement: "In a similar perfect world, the Ombudsman would not intentionally carry out an investigation against an opposition MK (Gilad Kariv) for leaking a secret protocol from the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee.".
He said, "The problem, as usual, is the feeling that justice was done to only one side. In conclusion: Gottlieb bought the indictment honestly, and in Hervé Meyara, she bought the suspicion with absolute justice.".
