United States President Donald Trump issued a new ultimatum to Iran on Tuesday afternoon to reach an agreement.
In his remarks, the American president made it clear that the administration in Washington is considering next steps, and that there is a possibility of using military force in the immediate term.
""Iran is begging to make a deal," Trump said. "We may have to give Iran another blow, not sure.".
The president revealed that he was very close to ordering the launch of a large-scale military operation against targets in Iran. "I was an hour away from a renewed attack on Iran," he said, referring to the level of readiness of the fighting forces. "It was being carried out from moment to moment, the ships were full, everything was ready for the attack.".
Trump explained that the decision to halt the military move stemmed from a direct appeal he received from various sources, who asked him to wait in order to exhaust the diplomatic negotiations. "I received a call yesterday, they told me, 'Sir, can you wait? We're close to a deal.'".
The president set a deadline for negotiations and made it clear in his own words: "We will give Iran until Friday, Saturday or Sunday at the most to reach a deal.".
