Today (Tuesday), at around 10:50, a report was received at the ZAKA hotline about a 69-year-old man who was found lifeless in an apartment on Derech Raziel Street in Netanya, long after his death, in a state of decomposition.
The deceased lived with his mother, who suffers from dementia and was unable to call for help, until neighbors noticed a strong odor coming from the apartment and called the emergency services.
ZAKA volunteers from the Sharon area - Netanya team were called and worked in the difficult scene, treating the deceased with dignity.
Thanks to the activities of ZAKA volunteers, the deceased was released for burial.
His funeral is currently taking place at the Netanya Veterans Cemetery.
Moti Bookchin of ZAKA: "The difficult scenes in Netanya are a direct continuation of a silent and frightening epidemic that is hitting the country. In the last 25 days alone, ZAKA volunteers have treated more than 20 severe cases of decay, from Eilat and Jerusalem to Hatzor HaGlilit and Netanya.".
""Old and young are alone only after long days of silence. Loneliness kills, and we must open our eyes and check on the well-being of lonely neighbors to prevent the next tragedy.""
