In California, in the United States, Chabad emissary in the state of Tennessee, Rabbi Yitzchak Zalman Poizner, one of the world's veteran Chabad emissaries, passed away at the age of 87.
The late Ztz"l, who was a great writer and orator whose name spread far and wide, was one of the founders of the Teshuvah movement in the United States.
He was blessed to be educated in his youth under the shadow of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, ztk"l, something that left its mark on him for the rest of his life, and he often shared and recounted memories of those special years - the last decade in the life of the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
Rabbi Posner was the first student in the first Chabad yeshiva established in 1959 in the United States.
In 1979, he established his home with his wife, Mrs. Risha - and they set out on a mission to Nashville, Tennessee, becoming the first emissaries to the state, where he worked for 55 years, until his death.
Rabbi Poizner, may God have mercy on him, was one of the leaders and initiators of the mass repentance movement under the close guidance of the Lubavitcher Rebbe. In lectures in front of halls full of Jewish youth, in radio and television broadcasts, in public speeches and also in private conversations. He was an eloquent speaker, a sought-after lecturer, who used all his Hasidic fervor and his talent for speaking and writing to bring Jews closer to Judaism and Hasidism with love and wisdom.
He left behind his sons and daughters, who serve in the mission: Mrs. Shifra Aviva Deren from Stamford Connecticut; Rabbi Menachem Mendel, from Atlanta, Georgia; Mrs. Suzy Danebaim, from Palm Springs, California; Mrs. Miriam Liberov From Porto Alegre, Brazil; and the Rabbi Shimon, from Rancho Mirage in California.
His brother: Rabbi Zosha Poizner serves as the leader of the Chabad Yeshiva in Lod.
Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who follow in his footsteps and serve in rabbinate and mission positions in all corners of the world.
May his memory be blessed.
