Do you want ultra-Orthodox soldiers? The IDF is forcefully trampling on the soldiers' faith: The fighter in the Nahal Brigade, who was sentenced yesterday to 30 days in prison and removal from combat duties because of a Messianic patch, submitted a request today (Thursday) to mitigate his sentence to the brigade commander, Col. Arik Moyal.
Is 100,000 NIS right for you before Shavuot? Last hours for the big lottery!
The soldier was punished after he was seen wearing a patch with the words "Messiah" on his vest, during a visit by Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir to the guard post where he was stationed.
In his letter, the soldier explained that he understood the mistake he made - and admitted that he had not correctly assessed the significance of the act and the way it was perceived within the military.
He emphasized that he had no intention of disobeying orders, challenging command authority, or creating a deliberate provocation during the visit.

""For me, it was purely a personal expression, without any desire to create a provocation or act contrary to the spirit of the army," the soldier wrote to the brigade commander. He added that he now understands the importance of adhering to the sampling procedures and mandatory guidelines within the framework of military service.
