The obsession with Goffman: The 'secret' document submitted by Attorney Gali Baharav of Yara to the High Court of Justice, as part of the petitions against the appointment of Major General Roman Gofman as head of the Mossad, has been revealed.

The document, which Bahar Meara described as "sensitive and new information," actually dealt with overlapping meetings that Goffman held at the Mossad after his appointment was approved by the government and the Grunis Committee.
The background for submitting the document is the High Court of Justice's decision from Tuesday, according to which Brigadier General G. - who previously served as head of the operations division at the Military Intelligence Directorate - will be required to submit an affidavit as part of the operation of the teenager Uri Al-Makiis.
According to the document, since the announcement of his appointment, Goffman began holding overlapping meetings within the organization, even before he officially took office. During one of the meetings, held on April 15 with the head of a division at the Mossad, the issue of the continued service of Brigadier General G., who currently holds a senior position in the organization, was also raised.
The document noted that outgoing Mossad head Dedi Barnea had already made a decision that Brigadier General G would end his position this summer, concurrent with his retirement from the IDF, after the issue was brought before the authorized Mossad officials.
It was also written that on May 12, Goffman visited the wing where Brigadier General G. serves. During the visit itself, the officer's future was not discussed, but afterwards, another conversation took place between Goffman and the wing chief, in which the subject came up again.
According to the document, both conversations took place without Brigadier General G.'s presence. It was also noted that the officer knew that his issue had been raised in the first meeting, but did not know about the second conversation.
At the time he held the overlap meetings at the Mossad, Goffman was already a candidate approved by the government and the Grunis Committee, and he did not know that days later the High Court of Justice would order a deposition to be taken specifically from Brigadier General G. - whose future at the Mossad may be subject to his discretion as the head of the organization.
Prime Minister Netanyahu and Goffman submitted a request to remove the confidentiality from the "secret document.".
Earlier, Netanyahu approached the High Court of Justice through his attorneys and requested that the affidavit be collected by an objective party. According to him, the attorney general is a "fellow of the petitioners" against the appointment and therefore cannot be the party that collects the affidavit.
The court rejected the request.
