70-year-old deaf Israeli wins two gold medals at the World Chess Championship for the Deaf

Israeli chess grandmaster Yehuda Greenfeld, 70, achieved an extraordinary feat when he won two gold medals in two different categories at the World Chess Championship for the Deaf, held in Spain.

Veteran and decorated Israeli chess player - Grandmaster Yehuda Greenfeld continues to make history and this week added a particularly impressive international achievement to his illustrious career, when he finished in first place in two different categories at the World Championship and won two particularly impressive gold medals.

Greenfeld, considered one of the most decorated and respected chess players in the world among the deaf community, proved once again that age is just a number when he turned his great disability into an advantage and, with extraordinary ability and uncompromising determination, managed to bring Israel two exciting gold medals in the international arena - in the Blitz and Rapid Chess categories.

Alongside Greenfeld's impressive achievement, Yevgeny Shevtsiuk also recorded great success in the championship, winning the bronze medal in the 55-plus chess competition.

The achievements of the Israeli delegation take on even greater significance against the backdrop of the complex and tense period in the world towards Israelis, and in the shadow of recent manifestations of hostility and anti-Semitism also heard throughout Spain. Despite the difficult atmosphere, the Israeli athletes came proudly to represent the country, raised the Israeli flag and proved that the spirit of sports, perseverance and excellence are stronger than any external noise.
