Great news for students, parents, the education system and the economy: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented this evening (Wednesday), at a joint press conference with the Minister of Education and the Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich, the outline for learning artificial intelligence in the education system - during some of the summer holidays, with a historic investment of 1.1 billion NIS.

According to the plan, the education system will operate summer programs from kindergarten to ninth grade, alongside the integration of STEM programs, artificial intelligence, and emotional and social challenges – in an unprecedented investment even during a time of war and budgetary challenges.

Led by Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Ministers of Education and Finance, and after intensive staff work by the Ministries of Education and Finance in recent weeks, a broad national outline has been formulated for operating educational frameworks and programs during the summer months for Israeli students from kindergarten to ninth grade.
As part of the outline, the Ministry of Finance will allocate an additional budget of approximately 600 million shekels, which will be added to the existing budget for summer programs in kindergartens and grades 1-3, so that the total investment in summer programs will amount to approximately 1.1 billion shekels.
The goal of the program is to assist students in filling educational gaps created by the prolonged security period, while also providing a response to families and the needs of the economy.
According to the plan, frameworks and programs adapted to the different age groups will be implemented as follows:
Kindergarten children through grades 1-3' - The “Summer Vacation Kindergartens and Schools” program, which will operate between July 1, 2026 and July 31, 2026, will be expanded and deepened.
Grades 4-6' - During the month of July, the "Summer Plus" program will be implemented, in which educational reinforcement will take place in small groups with an emphasis on language, mathematics and English, while strengthening learning skills and artificial intelligence competence.
Grades 7-9' - A "summer preparatory program" will be operated between June 21, 2026 and June 30, 2026, which will focus on promoting competence in artificial intelligence, mathematics, science and English, and will combine experiential activities, bootcamp days and STEM activities.
In the working meetings between the ministers and the Ministries of Finance and Education, the outline was formulated from a shared concept of expanding educational opportunities during the summer, alongside expanding the Israel Realit initiative to promote STEM subjects and artificial intelligence in the education system.
The program will combine pedagogical, emotional, and social aspects, while maintaining educational continuity and providing tailored solutions for all populations.

This is a significant national statement about our commitment to Israel's children.".
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich: "As Finance Minister, I stood together with my colleagues at the Minister of Education that the program will focus on boosting educational capabilities and implementing artificial intelligence systems. The program will allow parents to go to work after a complex year, and at the same time will focus on promoting educational capabilities in core professionalism.".
