
The soldier who was filmed a few weeks ago desecrating a Christian symbol in southern Lebanon will be sentenced to 21 days in prison.
The soldier stuck a cigarette in the mouth of a Christian statue in a village occupied by IDF soldiers.
The IDF spokesman's statement said that "the incident will be investigated by commanders in the field and summarized by the commander of Division 162, Brigadier General Sagiv Dahan, and at the end, the soldier who was recorded committing the act was sentenced to 21 days in prison, and the soldier who filmed the incident was sentenced to 14 days in prison.".
The statement further stated: "The IDF views the incident very seriously and respects freedom of religion and worship, as well as holy places and religious symbols of all religions and communities. Procedures regarding conduct with religious institutions and religious symbols are systematically reinforced to forces prior to their entry into the relevant areas.".
