A resident of the city of Beitar Illit complained several days ago to investigators at the Etzion police station that he noticed a number of strange charges in his account, which led him to look for his wallet - and only then did he discover that it was missing.
He also noted that the total charges amounted to approximately NIS 4,000 and the transactions were carried out in businesses in Beitar Illit and nearby cities.
Among other things, the complainant told the Etzion Station investigator that the suspect 'considered' him with one of his purchases, and used his own - the suspect's - 'club member' discount, and received a 50 percent discount.
Rapid investigative activity, including tracking down the suspect, including collecting evidence from the various businesses where the suspect used the credit cards, led to his location and arrest by detectives over the weekend.
The suspect, a resident of the Efrat community, in his 30s, was transferred for questioning at the Etzion police station for the offenses of using an essential component in a means of payment, theft, and receiving something fraudulently.
His investigation revealed that he had located the wallet as part of his work providing maintenance services for leasing vehicles. After realizing that the cards were not blocked for use, he began making numerous purchases in Beitar Illit, Bat Ayin, Beit Shemesh, his hometown, and Gush Etzion.
At the end of his interrogation, he was sent on restrictive terms.
The investigation into the cases is still ongoing.
