Today (Tuesday), at around 1:30 PM, a report was received at the ZAKA hotline about a 76-year-old unmarried woman who was found lifeless on Moshe Yulish Street in Ashkelon - several days after her death in a state of decomposition.
ZAKA volunteers from the Lachish area - Ashkelon team worked at the scene, treating the deceased with dignity and collecting the remains.
Nati Shahaf, Aharon Mori and Moti Shob, ZAKA volunteers: "We were called to the scene after the deceased's assistant tried to contact her but got no response. Fire and rescue forces who rushed to the scene located the woman lifeless and in an advanced state of decomposition.
""This is a very difficult scene. Unfortunately, just last week we dealt with a similar case in the city.".
Moti Bookchin, ZAKA spokesman: "This is the second case in which a human body was found in a state of decomposition within about an hour, and the third case in about two hours in which ZAKA volunteers are treating people who were found lifeless in their homes across the country - in Dimona, Rehovot and now also in Ashkelon.".
""In addition, this is the second case in the city of Ashkelon within a week. These worrying figures once again illustrate the difficult phenomenon of people living in loneliness. We call on the public to be vigilant, to maintain contact with family members and neighbors.""
