US Air Force Secretary Troy Maynek announced last week to the House of Representatives Defense Subcommittee that the US Air Force will renew five more E-7A aircraft in addition to the first two that were in the original contract and are 'prototypes' adapted for the 'flying intelligence room' ordered from Boeing.

These aircraft are intended to replace the previous fleet of E-3 Sentry reconnaissance aircraft.

About a year ago, the Pentagon announced the cancellation of a huge purchase of 26 E7A aircraft. And about two months ago, after pressure from Congress, the Air Force announced the purchase of the first two aircraft. Now, as mentioned, the Air Force is announcing the purchase of 5 more aircraft.
